Touching Spirit Bear:Chapters 24 and 25

I believe that Cole and Peter will be able to break the cycle of violence. I think that it will take a lot of time to accomplish this but i know that they will be able to. Once Peter and Cole have been on the islnad together for a while, they would have become really great friends. They will teach each other and help each other to be better people and to stay better people. I can also see the two of them growing up together and always helping people every chance they get. they will both get through this and teach others the same thing they taught each other.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapters 22 and 23

I think Cole will have learned many lessons from the anger dance. He will learn that he should trust other people and most importantly he should trust himself more. He also will learn that he needs to accept the help from others, and to not keep all his emotions, especially anger, bottled up inside. After spending a year alone on the island, Cole should live a very nice life.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapters 20 and 21

Cole is struggling with a lot of things internally. He is struggling with anger, loneliness, and with fear. I think that Cole is making great progress with his rehabilitation. He is learning not to blame others for his anger and he is learning to accept help from others.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapters 18 and 19

I think the whale and wolf dance was a great thing for Cole to do. From the whale dance, Cole learned that the whales are always migrating but in the end, it never has a real home. Cole said that he felt like the whales. He didn't think he had a real place to call home either. This should help Cole in knowing that he isn't the only one out there who has problems and not a real place to call home. After the wolf dance, which he danced alone, Cole had learned that you need help from others just like a wolf pack. This should help Cole realize that it is okay to ask for help and accept it when he needs it.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapters 16 and 17

I think the lessons that Edwin and Garvey are trying to teach Cole will help throughout his whole life. Garvey, for instance, is telling Cole all about how life is like a hot dog, or like anything really. If you make yourself a hot dog for the simple reason of it feeding you, then that is all that it will do. If you make yourself a hot dog, put more things on it, and you share it with other people then it would be more like a party. Life is what you want to make out of it. Edwin's lesson is quite different then Garvey's lesson, but it still holds a meaning. Edwin takes Cole into an ice cold pond in the morning. Once they are in the pond, he hands Cole a stick. The right end of the stick represents happiness and life, while the left end of the stick represents his anger. Edwin tells Cole to break the anger half of the stick off. Cole does this but he soon realizes that just because he broke off the anger side doesn't mean that the anger disappeared. It is still there and will always be. Anger is a memory never forgotten. I think that these lessons will help Cole in life. I think that he wants to become a better person.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapters 14 and 15

On the basis of what has happened so far, i think Cole will definitely take advantage on his second time on the island. I think he will try and make things right, instead of doing wrong all the time. Cole said, "When I was on the island and about to die, i was upset because I never really lived." He is basically saying that he does want a second chance and will do whatever he can to get just that. He was also telling Garvey and Edwin how getting mauled by the Spirit Bear changed him for the better. Hopefully all of this will make him into a much better person.

Touching Spitit Bear:Chapter 13

The quote i chose was said by Edwin. He said, "Anger is a memory never forgotten. You only tame it." To me, this is a very important quote. There are a lot of people in this world who are so full of anger that they don't know what to do with themselves. If people knew how to let that anger go then the world would be a better and even greater place. People also need to learn how to control their anger. If someone is very angry, that they can't even talk, they usually go and end up making some really bad choices. Controlling your anger could not only help you, but also the people around you.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 11 and 12

When Cole is laying in the hospital bed, he says, "I am okay." Cole really is okay. Not physically of course but emotionally and spiritually he is. When Cole was lying on the wet and muddy ground on the island, he thought he was going to die. He looks up and he sees birds flying around, the pretty water, and sky. He smells the pine trees, salt water, moss, and plants. He realizes that, "The world is really a beautiful place." He thought the if he was going to die, at least he got to see beauty. Being isolated on that island was a real eye opener for Cole. I don't think he will ever go back to the way things used to be.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 9 and 10

The lessons that Cole has learned from the baby birds could really help change his whole life around. For example when he first saw the mother bird feeding her young, he acted really angry. He said," That mother bird should just leave her babies. She doesn't owe them anything". On the inside, however, I think Cole was really upset and wished that his mom cared about him like the mother bird cared for her young. I think the birds also made him realize that he is fragile and weak, just like other people are. At the end of the chapter Cole finds out what it's like to care for another living thing. Because the lightning hits the tree and makes it fall down, all the baby birds die. Cole asks,"Are you OK?". Since he is learning how to become a more sensitive person, I think he will make it through this alive.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 7 and 8

The Spirit Bear mauling Cole could be a gift to him because, he could finally realize what he has been putting others through over the past couple of years. Nobody has ever had enough guts to stand up to Cole. He has always been the one who beat up other kids who got in his way or just plain bothered him. he never had the experience of what it felt like to go through something like that himself. In the next chapter, I think Cole will learn what it is like to really be on your own and not have an help. He will have to start making some changes and decisions that will benefit the rest of his life.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 5 and 6

Yes, I think Cole is manipulating the circle. On page 39 of Touching Spirit Bear, Cole has the feather. It is his turn to talk and explain to everyone why he is at the Healing Circle. He says that he was very sorry for beating up Peter Driscal. Sure everyone thinks that statement was sincere and that Cole really does want to change and turn his life around, but Cole really doesn't mean any of that. he has no desire to change and doesn't think he ever will. He was just trying to act nice so he could get out of punishment. I don't think Cole will continue to manipulate people and situations throughout his whole life. Being on the island without anyone else will probably change him. He will learn to be good and respect others and to act responsibly in his situations.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 4

From what I have read and how i feel, I think that staying on an island completely isolated for a year is good for Cole. Not only can he not hurt anyone else, but like Garvey said the island is a place to think and to find yourself. Cole can think about his actions and try to change to change himself and make things right again.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 2 and 3

Being on an abandoned island by yourself, must have made Cole feel many different emotions. he probably felt isolated from everybody else, angry, and scared. He also has a tremendous amount of rage built up inside of him, and he doesn't know what to do about it. Having a dad who is a heavy alcoholic that comes home and beats you for the silliest things, a mom that is to scared to stand up for her own son, no friends at school, and knowing inside that no one really cares or loves you would make anyone angry. he must also be confused because he has no one to give him guidance or advice.

The first picture is showing an out of control fire. Someone started this fire because they were angry. bad things happen when people are angry.
The second picture is probably what Cole is feeling like on the inside. he is angry and hurt because his dad beats him and his parents don't care for him or love him.

Touching Spirit Bear:Chapter 1

Cole's attitude toward life is very negative. He really doesn't care about whether he succeeds or fails in what he does. Cole apparently doesn't want an education because he doesn't listen in school and he always gets into fights. He threatened kids who got in his way. Saying things like, "You're a dead man." Cole also doesn't care about what happens to him after he has committed a crime. He said to the judge and to his own parents, "I never want to see your ugly faces again!"
There is someone i know, who acts sort of like Cole. Their attitudes are similar. This specific boy I'm talking about doesn't care about school and education because they never do their work. This person also yells inappropriate and unnecessary things in class. This not only ruins his chances for a good education, but also the others around them. Yelling and disrupting the class also distracts others, who care about their education, from doing their best on their work.
