Being on an abandoned island by yourself, must have made Cole feel many different emotions. he probably felt isolated from everybody else, angry, and scared. He also has a tremendous amount of rage built up inside of him, and he doesn't know what to do about it. Having a dad who is a heavy alcoholic that comes home and beats you for the silliest things, a mom that is to scared to stand up for her own son, no friends at school, and knowing inside that no one really cares or loves you would make anyone angry. he must also be confused because he has no one to give him guidance or advice.
The first picture is showing an out of control fire. Someone started this fire because they were angry. bad things happen when people are angry.
The second picture is probably what Cole is feeling like on the inside. he is angry and hurt because his dad beats him and his parents don't care for him or love him.
Your pictures are awesome. You show a great deal of empathy for Cole. I think I would be messed up too if I lived in his circumstances.
